Servers Configuration and Automated Scenarios Development

#

01.Challenge

The project is aimed for implementing automation to the execution of scenarios for educational purposes on Linux and Windows systems, and creating additional system configuration for ten new servers provided by the client. Update OS and software environment on the existing server, and configure ten new servers and install web application to run scenarios on them.

04.Scope of Work

  • Physical servers configuration
  • Physical network and security devices configuring
  • Hypervisor configuration
  • Deployment of VMware vCenter unified central management
  • Deployment and configuration of virtual servers
  • Deployment of backup server
  • User accounts management
  • Virtual machines snapshots management
  • Web application development for running automated scenarios on remote servers

05.Web application

Once the configuration phase was completed, we developed a web application for executing automated scenarios. Web application runs in a web browser available on any MS Windows or Linux workstation with GUI installed, and it allows executing automated scenarios with user-friendly graphic interface.

Web application has flexible settings options for updating commands to be executed with their parameters. Reset function is available to execute rollback on workstations affected by scenario run previously.

05.Documentation

The team has developed a comprehensive project documentation that includes the following documents:

  • System architecture diagram
  • Netword diagram
  • Physical infrastructure diagram
  • Access permissions list
  • Configuration plan
  • Credentials to all virtual machines
  • Disaster recovery plan
  • Web application user guide
